General information

Polaria, located in downtown Tromsø, is an Arctic aquarium and experience center. Explore the coexistence of animals, fish, plants, and people. Meet bearded seals, harbour seals, catfish, and small sharks, and learn about different species on the ocean floor.

Seal Pool and Aquarium

Five playful seals live in our seal pool, along with animals and fish from polar regions. Join us for daily feeding and training sessions.

Panoramic Theatre

Enjoy films showcasing Arctic wonders—Northern Lights in Tromsø, fly over Svalbard’s glaciers and mountains, and join us behind the scenes at Polaria.

Exhibitions and our mission

Polaria's mission is to showcase research in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions. Through knowledge-based exhibitions in collaboration with scientists from Fram - High North Research Centre for Climate and the Environment, Polaria reflects some of the research taking place in the Arctic. Our new interactive exhibitions let you learn more and reflect on the man-made challenges our region faces. The goal is to make our guests understand how all life is connected and dependent on each other.
