This option does not include bus transportation. Please arrive at Tamokhuset, 15 minutes prior to the start of the activity.
Upon arriving at our camp at Tamokhuset, you'll be split into two groups.
The first group will prepare for the dog sledding activity by gearing up with essential equipment, including thermal suits, boots, and gloves, to ensure comfort and warmth. After receiving the necessary instructions on steering the sled, they'll embark on their dog sledding adventure.
Meanwhile, the second group will visit the dog yard, enjoy a hot meal and drink, and listen to fascinating facts about our huskies. After some relaxing time at the camp, they will gear up with essential equipment and receive instructions for their upcoming dog sledding adventure.
When the first group returns from their sled ride, both groups will switch places. Now, it's time for the second group to embark on their adventure while the first group relaxes at the camp with a hot meal and drinks, visits the dog yard, and learns more about our huskies.
As the second group returns from their sledding adventure, marking the end of the activity for everyone, it will be time to bid farewell to the huskies and the Arctic wilderness. You'll head home with memories to cherish for years to come.
About Your Dog Sledding Activity
You will be paired with another guest, sharing one sled. One person will take on the role of musher, steering the energetic huskies through the snowy landscape, while the other enjoys the ride seated on the sled. Midway through, you'll have the opportunity to switch roles, giving both of you the chance to experience the excitement of leading the huskies and the enjoyment of being a passenger.
This dog sledding experience is designed to be accessible for most participants. While you will need basic physical fitness to walk on snowy terrain and help the dogs by pushing the sled, the route is mostly flat and open, making the sledding both comfortable and easy.
Duration
11:05 – 14:25 (3 hours and 20 min)
Level of Difficulty
Medium. Driving your own dogsled requires strength, fitness, and good physical condition. Some parts of the trail may be covered with fresh snow or include uphill sections, requiring you to assist the dogs by pushing the sled. The trail can also be narrow with sharp bends, demanding good balance for steering. As you will be sharing the sled with another person, both participants must meet these requirements when swapping places midway through the tour. For health and safety reasons, our guides have the authority to deny participation to any driver or passenger.
