Driving your own team of huskies is a unique and unforgettable experience, perfect for anyone visiting Northern Norway. Traditionally used in the Arctic for travel, hunting, and transportation, dog sledding now offers you a chance to engage in this historic and culturally rich activity.
The adventure starts with a scenic 50-minute bus ride from Tromsø to our camp in Breivikeidet, a beautiful valley near the sea.
Upon arriving at our Breivikeidet camp, you’ll be greeted by our friendly staff and outfitted with insulated polar suits, boots, hats, and mittens. Your guide will provide safety instructions and teach you the basics of sled driving.
After a brief demonstration and some practice, you'll set off to explore open fields and forest trails on your dog sled.
You'll share a sled with another participant: one will drive while the other enjoys the ride. Midway through, you'll swap roles, giving everyone a chance to experience both mushing and taking in the stunning scenery.
After your sledding adventure, return to the camp where you can relax in a traditional Sami lavvo (tent), enjoying a hot drink and cake by the campfire. Once you’ve changed back into your regular clothes and said farewell to the huskies, you'll board the bus back to Tromsø, carrying with you lasting memories of your Arctic adventure.
