Each winter, humpback and killer whales migrate to Tromsø's coastal waters for their Atlantic herring banquet, spanning from mid-October to late January. We invite you to join on our Whale & Arctic Wildlife Safari, setting sail from the heart of Tromsø.

The direction and duration of the tour are shaped by weather conditions and the likelihood of whale encounters. On certain days, we may journey up to three hours to reach the prime whale sighting area. Along the way, savor scenic landscapes as we navigate through islands and fjords, all set against a breathtaking mountain backdrop.

Once we spot these majestic creatures, we dedicate plentiful time to the whale watching experience. We gently drift alongside the whales, ensuring a respectful and unobtrusive presence in their natural habitat. Our tours can extend for up to 8 hours, maximizing your chances of a memorable encounter.

Our boat offers spacious comforts, including a warm lounge with panoramic windows, a convenient kiosk, restroom facilities, and multiple outdoor decks for your enjoyment.

Note:

We cannot guarantee whale sightings as we are depending on marine life in their natural habitat on this wildlife tour. Sighting might also be affected by difficult weather conditions.
If you don't see any whales on your tour, you get to book a second tour for free at Norwegian Travel sales shop, Sjøgata 16 (subject to availability on the next tour).
Keep in mind that the weather in the Arctic can be rough. If becoming seasick is your concern, we recommend taking seasickness medicine half an hour before the tour starts

We will serve coffee and tea on board the ship.
It is possible to buy snacks on board the ship.
You can also choose to bring your own snacks

What to bring or wear

Dress according to the season and weather conditions (e.g. warm footwear, hat, scarf, gloves, layers)
If you need an extra layer, we can offer you a winter overall suit which we have on board the ship.

Special Request

We only have capacity for one electric wheelchair and a limited number of manual wheelchairs per trip. We help passengers with manual wheelchairs get into a regular seat, when possible.
Send us an email with your booking number, and we will inform our crew that you are coming.
We urge travelers bringing wheelchairs to meet up at the departure point in plenty of time before departure.
